How to find the artist behind the monogram
If you can read all letters in the monogram
- Enter from 1 to 5 letters in the “Name” field.
- Enter any other information you have.
- Click “Search”.
If a single letter is hard to read
- Enter what you see!
- Example: If a letter maybe is an “e” or “f” but looks more like a “c”
– just use “c” in the “Name” field and the search engine will do the rest.
- Enter any other information you have.
- Click “Search”.
If a single letter is impossible to read
- Use “+” to replace a single unknown letter.
- Example: If “M” is illegible in the signature “CM” – enter “C+” in the
“Name” field.
- Enter any other information you have.
- Click “Search”.
If one or more consecutive letters are impossible to
read
- Use “*” to replace one or several unknown letters.
- Example: If “M” is illegible in the signature “CM” and looks like one,
two or more letters – enter “C*” in the “Name” field.
- Enter any other information you have.
- Click “Search”.
If the entire monogram is impossible to read
- Use “xxx” to replace monograms that look like figures, drawings or are
completely illegible.
- Example: If the monogram is a bird figure – enter “xxx” in the “Name”
field.
- Enter any other information you have.
- Click “Search”.
